Welcome to our premiere week of Now Playing!!! Today's shows are my attempt to smoosh Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim with the even more ancient TGIF on ABC. Thus, two shorter, mostly adult cartoons.
(A quick note about yesterday’s episode: we were supposed to be watching Interrogation, but when I went to double-check its availability, I found out that Paramount+ had pulled it from distribution late last year. Boooooo. So, I will be picking a different procedural, and we’ll start that next week.)
Over the Garden Wall summary:
In the first episode of "Over the Garden Wall," Wirt, who is infatuated with a girl, attempts to retrieve a tape of poetry and clarinet music he made for her. He is followed by her to a ghost story party in a graveyard, where a police officer scares him and his brother Greg into jumping over the cemetery's garden wall. On the other side of the wall, they land on a train track. As they travel, they come across various characters and face different challenges. The episode sets the stage for their adventures in the Unknown, a mysterious and magical place.
Cowboy Bebop summary:
The first episode of the animated series "Cowboy Bebop," titled "Asteroid Blues," introduces us to Spike Spiegel and Jet Black, bounty hunters aboard the spaceship Bebop. Set in the year 2071, the duo is tracking a bounty head named Asimov Solensan, who has stolen a syndicate's supply of a dangerous drug called "Bloody Eye." This episode takes place on the asteroid Tijuana, also known as the "Asteroid Blues."
